Meet the team behind La Parrilla

Dheeraj Punjabi

Background and vast experience in retail in the field of fine wines and spirits, Dheeraj started the brand in 2010 with a vision of building a catering chain which bridged the gap between standard cooking and culinary excellence.

With a vast knowledge and qualified certification in the field of wine, La Parrilla boasted to have a wide and diverse spectrum of fine wines from all over the world, matching the quality cuisine available at its prime head quarters of Watergardens .

Dheeraj returned to the rock after a short spell in Wales studying an economics degree to take over a small family business in 2003 specializing in wines and world spirits.

In 2010 saw the door of la Parrilla open at its prime location in Watergardens and in 2011 his expansion saw another retail outlet open in grand Casemates Square.

In 2012 saw a third retail outlet in Irish town open its doors with Dheeraj having a strong hold in the retail market in Gibraltar.

With his passion firmly in catering and fine wines, Dheeraj opened a takeaway catering division in Cornwalls Centre in 2014 to add to La Parrillas success which to this date now forms the backbone of the La Parrilla brand.

After his sale of the retail chain to shareholders Dheeraj now works closely with his catering team building a strong and firm catering establishment to be unreckoned with.

Chef Devendra Rawat

With his distinctive style, Chef Dev posses a talent which all chefs desire to have. His knowledge in culinary excellence is shown in daily cooking with positive feedback from the local public.

Showing an array of talent in continental cuisine his master class is in the field of artisan Indian culinary cooking. Highly dependent on fresh produce chef Dev awes the public by pleasing all forms of the sensory palate.

His experience takes him back to his mother land of the kingdom of India back in 1999 where he commenced in as a standard continental chef in the Galaroid chain of restaurants in Mumbai.

After completing his full courses in culinary excellence and chef studies he became a fully licensed chef and master chef in a country which thrives in the finest cooking techniques in the world.

His step up in Work took him to “starter and mole” fine dining in Mumbai in 2000 where he lead the continental team and started his path in Indian cuisine.

3 years on and a phone call from Mumbai finest Thai restaurant group “Athena” took him to the next level of fresh cooking learning his way into the most different forms of cooking expertise Thai cuisine has to offer. “Thai cuisine, should never consist of any form of purchased retail paste, of a chef says otherwise he should not be in the kitchen, Thai cuisine takes hours of work and that’s why I preach it” Chef Dev.

With Devs drive and ambition, Athena Thai became a forceful presence in Mumbai in a vastly competitive catering business.

2005 took Chef Dev to un president heights when the director of Ambestor hotel group of companies 5* branded hotels approached Dev with a lucrative contract and employment as master chef of probably Mumbai’s most successful 5* chain of hotels.

Working as a continental, Italian and Indian chef - his knowledge gave the brand “lush lounge and grill” trading under the hotel group of Ambestar a leading name which attracted 95 perfect of the top Bollywood stars and sports personnel in Mumbai, a celebrity status symbol under chef debs Master guidance. Having fed the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and shah Rukh khan, his passion for success is unprecedented.

8 years at the ambestor hotel chef Dev had a European dream. That European dream came to reality when an approach by La Parrilla and long over seas discussions were accepted by both parties. 2013 welcomed chef Dev as Master chef of La Parrilla on the Go establishment.

Under his guidance the company has risen from strength to strength and continues to grow.

Jamie Crisp

Joining the company in early 2015 whilst still being a keen student at the Gibraltar college of further education, Jamie immediately showed enthusiasm and hard work ethics and his strive to succeed and great learning abilities earned him the role of head of distribution.

Jamie changed the way la Parrilla performed its delivery service and created a better working atmosphere and divergence which ensured delivery times were met and service was utmost guerneted at the best of our ability when customers received thier orders at their doorstep.

Being qualified and well educated in the field of business studies, Jamie provides daily advice and structure to perform and remain as the best catering establishment on the rock in the fast paced economy.

Jamie works closely with owner Dheeraj Punjabi. Together they create the backbone of la Parrillas dynamic service.

Nuria Gomez Cabrera

Nuria has been with us at La Parrilla on the Go since 2014.

Nuria's speciality in the kitchen is mediterrannean food and grilled meats. Nuria specialises in homecooked dishes like Torta Patata, Tuna bakes, Prawns Pil Pil and lots of other regional delicacies.

Nuria has been with us now not only at our establishment but across many corporate and private catering events, and also concerts. Nuria's always been a hard worker and shows great dedication to clients, always looking for ways to improve.
